Chocolate Pecan Chess Pie

Ingredients
- 2 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp. cornmeal
- 1 tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 4 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. butter, melted
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla
- 1 c. pecans, chopped
- 1 unbaked pie shell, homemade or store bought
- Garnish:
- 1 c. heavy cream
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
- Combine sugar, cocoa, cornmeal, flour and salt in a mixing bowl.
- In another mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, melted butter and vanilla. Stir egg mixture into sugar mixture. Whisk gently until all is blended.
- Pour all into an unbaked pie shell. Sprinkle pecans on top.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 50 - 60 minutes. Pie will puff up and slightly crack on top.
- Beat together heavy whipping cream, sugar and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
